If you have just used the oven, allow some time to cool it down. And no matter how dirty the oven is, never immerse it into water.

Also, make sure that you are not spraying water or cleaning solutions directly. Doing this can damage intricate electric parts.

Clean the Oven Exterior

You should start the cleaning process with the oven exterior. While mild solutions may work for a few stains and spots, they won’t do the job if there are heavy stains. In that case, you should go with stronger cleaning solutions or sanitizing spray.

Use a soft, clean cloth to clean the exterior. Never use paper towel for this purpose. These towels could get ripped off and stuck to various corners of the oven. Gently spray the solution to the outer surface and wipe with the cloth.

In case of tough stains, use the solution directly on the spot and leave it for a few minutes. Then, wipe the area with a clean, lint-free cloth.

The oven doors are usually made of glass so that you can view the food while cooking it. For cleaning the glass, pick up your favorite glass cleaner. Repeat the process you followed for cleaning the exterior. Just make sure that you are not using the cleaning solutions or sprays on the glass.

Clean the Oven Interior

In order to clean the interior, remove the rack and/or tray first. If there are lots of food particles, hold the oven over the trash can with the open side facing down. Give the oven a few gentle taps and/or shake it mildly. This will release the food particles into the trash can.

You might still have some food particles attached inside of the oven. Use a clean sponge to get rid of them. Then, soak the sponge in a soapy solution, rinse it and rub the inner side of the oven. Once the interior is clean, you can either clean the racks, trays or put them into the dishwasher.

When you are done with the cleaning, let the oven and the components dry out. This should be done within a few minutes. Once they are dry, insert the rack and/or tray and plug the oven again. There you have it, your toaster oven is ready again.

Regular cleaning and maintenance are the keys to getting the best performance from any electric appliance. Follow the advice provided above for cleaning your toaster oven. This will definitely increase the longevity of your oven.
